About the tides at Cape Chlanak

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.3 ft. On a typical day the water moves about 2.4 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.8 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 0.1 ft, on October 12. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.1 ft on December 23 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on June 6.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sweeper Cove, Kuluk Bay, Adak Island, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Kanaga Bay, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Adak Strait, 4 miles ENE of Naga Point.

Predictions are based on Sweeper Cove, Kuluk Bay, Adak Island.
