About the tides at Kanaga Bay

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Adak Island, Sweeper Cove. The average range is about 3.0 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 6.0 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 1.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 5.9 ft on December 23, and the lowest is −1.9 ft on June 6.

Kanaga Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Adak Island, Sweeper Cove: highs come about 99 min and lows about 104 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Cape Chlanak, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later. For tidal currents, see Adak Strait, 4 miles Ene of Naga Point.

Predictions are based on Adak Island, Sweeper Cove.
