About the tides at Chinulna Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.3 ft. The tide range here is very large, about 18.0 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 20.8 ft. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 26.3 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 12.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 25.4 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −5.0 ft on July 5.
