About the tides at Cleveland Passage

Cleveland Passage has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. Cleveland Passage sees a mean range of about 11.9 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 21.8 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 4.8 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 18.7 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.6 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is The Brothers, 12 mi away, where high tide comes about 7 min earlier. For tidal currents, see The Five Fingers.

Predictions are based on Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass.
