About the tides at Good Island

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.4 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau. Good Island sees a mean range of about 12.8 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.3 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 19.0 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 5.3 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 18.5 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.3 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Juneau, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1920 to 1995 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Gambier Bay (cannery wharf), 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Point Gambier, 2 miles east of.

Predictions are based on Juneau.
