About the tides at Dame Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.3 ft. On a typical day the water moves about 3.4 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.5 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 2.8 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.8 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on February 21.

A live NOAA gauge measures the water here, and predictions are calculated from this station's own records. It also reports water temperature. It was established in 1977. The nearest other station is Blount Island Bridge, 2 mi away. For tidal currents, see Dames Point Bridge.
