About the tides at Davis River entrance

Davis River entrance has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. The tide range here is very large, about 14.0 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 20.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 11.4 ft.

Davis River entrance is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Ketchikan: highs come about 2 min and lows about 0 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Hyder, 12 mi away. For tidal currents, see Miners Point.
