About the tides at Rudyerd Bay

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Rudyerd Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows. The tide range here is very large, about 12.7 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 19.4 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −4.2 ft on July 5.

Rudyerd Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Ketchikan, Tongass Narrows: highs come about 1 min and lows about 2 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1931 to 2004 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Hut Point, 11 mi away.
