About the tides at Hut Point
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.4 ft. The tide range here is very large, about 13.6 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 16.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 22.1 ft. Neap tides follow on November 1, when the range shrinks to 8.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 19.6 ft on January 23, and the lowest is −4.3 ft on July 5.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1984 to 2025 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Rudyerd Bay, 11 mi away.
