About the tides at Dolphin Point

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay. The tide range here is very large, about 11.3 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 19.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 8.6 ft.

Dolphin Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting SELDOVIA, Kachemak Bay: highs come about 25 min and lows about 5 min earlier than there.
