About the tides at Dutch Slough
Dutch Slough has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay. On a typical day the water moves about 2.5 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most California stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.3 ft, comes on Tuesday, and the smallest, 2.4 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.2 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.4 ft on December 26.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1992 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is False River, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 12 min later.
