About the tides at False River

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay. On a typical day the water moves about 2.3 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most California stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.9 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 2.3 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.1 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.4 ft on December 26.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1992 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Threemile Slough entrance, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min earlier.
