About the tides at Edgewater

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Baltimore, Fort McHenry, Patapsco River. The mean range is small, about 0.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Maryland stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 1.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 0.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.7 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −0.6 ft on January 22.

Edgewater is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Baltimore, Fort McHenry, Patapsco River: highs come about 111 min and lows about 127 min earlier than there.
