About the tides at Entrance Island
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Entrance Is., Keku Strait, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 12.2 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 14.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 19.8 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 8.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 17.3 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −3.7 ft on December 24.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1929 to 2006 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is The Summit, 9 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min later. For tidal currents, see Cucumber Reef, 0.2 mile northwest of.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
