About the tides at Kake Harbor

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.4 ft. The tide range here is very large, about 11.8 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 14.2 ft. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 17.8 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 5.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 17.2 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −4.0 ft on December 24.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here in 2009 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Entrance Island, 10 mi away. For tidal currents, see Kake Harbor.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
