About the tides at Kasitsna Bay

Kasitsna Bay has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The tide range here is very large, about 15.7 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 18.1 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 23.7 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 12.5 ft.
