About the tides at Honeymoon Island
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Clearwater Beach. The average range is about 2.1 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 3.4 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 1.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.0 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.3 ft on January 21.
Honeymoon Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Clearwater Beach: highs come about 28 min and lows about 43 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Ozona, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 20 min earlier.
