About the tides at Hudson
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Cedar Key. On a typical day the water moves about 2.5 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.3 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.8 ft, comes on Tuesday, and the smallest, 2.5 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.3 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on December 24.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Cedar Key, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Fillmans Bayou, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 38 min later.
