About the tides at Fillmans Bayou

Fillmans Bayou has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Cedar Key, Gulf of Mexico. The mean range is small, about 1.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.4 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 29, with a range of 2.8 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.7 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on December 24.
