About the tides at Laird Bayou

Laird Bayou usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. The pattern follows the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 1.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.0 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 0.4 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.2 ft on October 3 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Pensacola, Pensacola Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1991 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Goose Point, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 14 min earlier.
