About the tides at Little Basin
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 0.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Monday, with a range of 1.3 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 0.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.5 ft on October 28, and the lowest is −0.4 ft on January 21.
Little Basin is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 8 min and lows about 75 min later than there. The nearest other station is Islamorada, 0.9 mi away, where high tide comes about 31 min later. For tidal currents, see Long Key, drawbridge east of.
Predictions are based on Key West.
