About the tides at Machiasport

Machiasport has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. Machiasport sees a mean range of about 12.1 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 14.7 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 11.0 ft, on Sunday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Eastport, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Cutler, Naval Radio Station, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 6 min earlier.
