About the tides at Ocean Reef Harbor

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.2 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut. On a typical day the water moves about 2.3 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.5 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.4 ft on September 29 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Wednesday Point, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 46 m later. For tidal currents, see Caesar Creek, Biscayne Bay.

Predictions are based on Miami Beach, Government Cut.
