About the tides at Oil Bay
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Oil Bay, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet. Oil Bay sees a mean range of about 11.2 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 20.3 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 5.5 ft, on Monday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 17.2 ft on January 23 and bottom out at −4.5 ft on July 5.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Seldovia, Cook Inlet, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them.
