About the tides at Otter Point
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Unalaska, Dutch Harbor. The mean range is small, about 1.8 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.5 ft on December 23, and the lowest is −1.4 ft on June 6.
Otter Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Unalaska, Dutch Harbor: highs come about 27 min and lows about 40 min earlier than there.
