About the tides at Chernofski Harbor

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Unalaska, Dutch Harbor. On a typical day the water moves about 2.1 ft between high and low. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.1 ft, comes on Thursday, and the smallest, 1.9 ft, on October 22. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.2 ft on December 23 and bottom out at −1.7 ft on June 6.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Unalaska, Dutch Harbor, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Otter Point, 13 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Paso Point.
