About the tides at Packery Channel

Packery Channel usually gets one high and one low tide a day, known as a diurnal tide. Water here rises and falls only about 0.4 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Texas stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 0.6 ft, comes on October 30, and the smallest, 0.1 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 1.1 ft on October 3 and bottom out at −0.6 ft on January 21.

A live NOAA gauge measures the water here, and predictions are calculated from this station's own records. It also reports water temperature, wind and air pressure. It was established in 1988. The nearest other station is Corpus Christi, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 1 m earlier.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
