About the tides at Plum Island

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Merrimack River Entrance, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. With a mean range of about 8.0 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Massachusetts stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 8.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 9.3 ft, comes today, and the smallest, 5.7 ft, on October 18.
