About the tides at Pole Anchorage

Pole Anchorage has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka. The range is large, about 9.1 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 13.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 7.2 ft.

Pole Anchorage is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sitka: highs come about 22 min and lows about 22 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Edna Bay, 6 mi away. For tidal currents, see Warren Channel.
