About the tides at Ratz Harbor

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Prince of Wales Island, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. The tide range here is very large, about 13.5 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 15.9 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 19.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 10.5 ft.
