About the tides at Sacramento

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Port Chicago, Suisun Bay. The mean range is small, about 0.9 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most California stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.3 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 3.2 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 2.0 ft.

Sacramento is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Port Chicago, Suisun Bay: highs come about 307 min and lows about 392 min later than there.
