About the tides at Seapoint

Seapoint has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The range is large, about 8.7 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 9.4 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 10.9 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 8.2 ft.

Seapoint is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Portland: highs come about 1 min later and lows about 4 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1976 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Kittery Point, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Fort Point.

Predictions are based on Portland.
