About the tides at Simpson Creek
Simpson Creek has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fernandina Beach, Amelia River. The range is large, about 5.1 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.5 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 6.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 4.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.5 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 23.
Simpson Creek is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fernandina Beach, Amelia River: highs come about 4 min and lows about 17 min later than there.
