About the tides at Stratford
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. With a mean range of about 6.6 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is larger than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.9 ft, comes on October 10, and the smallest, 6.0 ft, on Saturday.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Bridgeport, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1993 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Sniffens Point, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 13 min earlier.
