About the tides at Tindalls Wharf
Tindalls Wharf has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Reedy Point. The range is large, about 5.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most New Jersey stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 6.6 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 5.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.3 ft on August 3, and the lowest is −0.9 ft on January 24.
Tindalls Wharf is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Reedy Point: highs come about 61 min later and lows about 2 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Cedar Creek entrance, 6 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 38 m earlier. For tidal currents, see Cohansey River, 0.5 mile above entrance.
Predictions are based on Reedy Point.
