About the tides at Venice Inlet (inside)

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay. Water here rises and falls only about 1.4 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.3 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 1.3 ft, on October 22. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.8 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.9 ft on January 21.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Venice Municipal Airport, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 50 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Venice Inlet.

Predictions are based on St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay.
