About the tides at Vero Beach (ocean)

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.2 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance. On a typical day the water moves about 3.4 ft between high and low. That is larger than most Florida stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.9 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.5 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 2.2 ft, on October 19. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 4.9 ft on September 29 and bottom out at −1.1 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1970 to 1973 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Vero Beach, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 3 h 56 m later.

Predictions are based on Government Cut, Miami Harbor Entrance.
