About the tides at Wine Island
Tides at Terrebonne Bay are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at East Point, Grand Isle. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on Friday, with a range of 2.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 8, when the range shrinks to 0.4 ft.
Wine Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting East Point, Grand Isle: highs come about 68 min and lows about 62 min later than there. The nearest other station is E. Isle Dernieres, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 45 m earlier. For tidal currents, see Cat Island Pass, Terrebonne Bay.
Predictions are based on East Point, Grand Isle.
