About the tides at Auke Bay

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.6 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. Auke Bay sees a mean range of about 13.2 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 20.0 ft, comes tomorrow, and the smallest, 5.5 ft, on October 17. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 19.5 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −4.5 ft on July 5.
