About the tides at Lincoln Island
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 1.6 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass. The tide range here is very large, about 13.3 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 20.0 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 5.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 19.5 ft on December 24, and the lowest is −4.5 ft on July 5.
Lincoln Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass: highs come about 3 min earlier and lows about 1 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1996 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Barlow Cove, 13 mi away. For tidal currents, see North Pass, Lincoln Island.
Predictions are based on Juneau, Gastineau Channel, Stephens Pass.
