About the tides at Bangor

Bangor has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The tide range here is very large, about 13.4 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Maine stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 14.3 ft. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 14.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 9.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 16.0 ft on December 25, and the lowest is −1.6 ft on January 24.
