About the tides at Sandy Point

Sandy Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The tide range here is very large, about 10.2 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 12.6 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 9.5 ft.

Sandy Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bar Harbor: highs come about 6 min and lows about 8 min later than there.
