About the tides at Sandy Point

Sandy Point has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay. The range is large, about 10.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 13.1 ft on August 4, and the lowest is −1.8 ft on January 23.

Sandy Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay: highs come about 6 min and lows about 8 min later than there.
