About the tides at Block Island

Block Island has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka. The range is large, about 9.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 14.1 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 7.7 ft.

Block Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sitka: highs come about 7 min and lows about 2 min later than there.
