About the tides at North Pass
North Pass has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound. North Pass sees a mean range of about 10.2 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 15.6 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −3.1 ft on July 5.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is South Pass, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later. For tidal currents, see The Sentinels, 1 mile west of.
Predictions are based on Sitka, Baronof Island, Sitka Sound.
