About the tides at Cape May
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 4.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 5.4 ft. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 5.8 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 3.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.5 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.0 ft on January 23.
