About the tides at North Highlands Beach
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.1 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Lewes, Ft. Miles. The average range is about 4.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 7.1 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 4.0 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.0 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.3 ft on January 23.
North Highlands Beach is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Lewes, Ft. Miles: highs come about 4 min and lows about 14 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Cape May, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Cape May Canal, West End.
Predictions are based on Lewes, Ft. Miles.
