About the tides at Columbia Glacier
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The range is large, about 9.6 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 12.0 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 14.8 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 5.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 15.4 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −3.5 ft on July 5.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here in 2005 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Jackson Cove, 11 mi away, where high tide comes about 6 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Finski Point.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
