About the tides at Busby Island

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Valdez, Prince William Sound. The range is large, about 9.5 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 15.0 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −3.5 ft on July 5.

Busby Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Valdez, Prince William Sound: highs come about 2 min and lows about 2 min earlier than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 2004 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Rocky Point, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Tatitlek Narrows.

Predictions are based on Valdez, Prince William Sound.

Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
