About the tides at Dent Point

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at KODIAK, Womens Bay. The range is large, about 5.2 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 11, with a range of 9.3 ft. Neap tides follow tomorrow, when the range shrinks to 5.1 ft.

Dent Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting KODIAK, Womens Bay: highs come about 17 min and lows about 33 min later than there. The nearest other station is Ivanof Bay, 17 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min later.
