About the tides at Dupont

Dupont has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The average range is about 2.7 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most South Carolina stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 4.0 ft. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 1.1 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.7 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −2.3 ft on January 23.

Dupont is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston, Cooper River Entrance: highs come about 141 min and lows about 127 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1990 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Old Rice Mill, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 35 min later. For tidal currents, see The Tee, 0.4 mile southwest of.

Predictions are based on Charleston, Cooper River Entrance.
